Herdie’s Hereos Embark on Tough Mudder for Finlay

9 very brave (or stupid!?!) men have taken on the gruelling challenge of Scotland’s Tough Mudder in order to race money  for Finlay’s Fund.

What started out as a personal challenge to close family friend, Gary Herd and 4 friends, grew into what can only be described as a fabulous team effort with 4 other work colleagues offering to join the fundraising effort.  Herdie’s Heroes – Jim Cheyne, Graham Smith, Mike Roulston, Craig Aird, John Durkin, Alan Lyon, Scott Thorne, Gordon Thompson and Gary Herd have been training hard and raising awareness and support for Finlay over the last few months.  It’s amazing to think that only one of the nine men involved have actually met Finlay yet they are all willing to put themselves forward for what is sure to be one of the toughest challenges of their lives!

Tough Mudder is well known for being the “toughest event on the planet!”   The event is a hardcore 10-12 mile obstacle courses designed by Special Forces to test all around strength, stamina, determination, and camaraderie. Only 78% of entrants successfully complete each challenge but the 9 men taking part are not only drawing on their personal strength to get them through but that of each other and the knowledge that the money they will raise will be going to a little boy who has shown amazing strength, stamina, determination and camaraderie throughout his life to date.

We are looking forward to seeing the team complete Tough Mudder on Saturday 24th August at Dalkeith Coutry Estate.  If you would like to sponsor Herdie’s Heroes you can do so by visiting our website www.finlaysfund.co.uk and going to the donate now page.
